The J&K Services Selection Board has advertised Division Cadre posts ofForester (Forest, Ecology & Environment Department) vide AdvertisementNotification No. 04 of 2022 and Social Forestry Worker (Forest, Ecology &Environment Department) vide Advertisement Notification No. 03 of 2021 &04 of 2022. Accordingly, the syllabus for the said posts is notified as per thedetails qiven in Annexure "A" and "B" to this notice.

Syllabus for written test (Objective Type) for the post of Forester

The examination is designed to assess candidates' scientific, analytical, and numerical acumen, along with their broad understanding of various subjects. The medium of examination is English, and the test duration is 2 hours with a total of 120 marks.

Section A: Basic Science (32 Marks)
Objective type questions focused on evaluating candidates' aptitude in basic science, covering Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at a level equivalent to 12th standard.

Section B: Basic Numerical Ability and Data Interpretation (32 Marks)
This section tests candidates' proficiency in numerical concepts such as profit & loss, compounding, discounting, mensuration, geometry (including coordinate geometry), trigonometry, and fundamental statistics (including probability).

Section C: General Knowledge (24 Marks)
This section encompasses current events, everyday observations, and experiences. It also delves into History, Geography, Indian Polity, the Constitution of India, and general aspects related to forests, wildlife, environment, biodiversity, and climate change.

Section D: Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability (16 Marks)
Questions in this segment aim to assess logical reasoning skills and the ability to analyze information effectively.

Section E: Decision Making and Problem Solving (16 Marks)
This section evaluates candidates' decision-making capabilities and problem-solving skills under varied scenarios.

Note: Each section is allocated marks proportionally to the scope and depth of the subject matter.

This syllabus provides an outline of the examination pattern and topics to be covered. It aims to comprehensively assess candidates aspiring for the position of Forester, ensuring a holistic evaluation of their competencies in scientific, numerical, analytical, and general awareness domains.

Candidates are encouraged to prepare rigorously across these sections to demonstrate their proficiency and suitability for the role of Forester.

1) Basic Mathematics (32 Marks) Percentage, Average, Time, Work and Distance, Ratio and Proportion, Problem of Age, Probability, LCM,HCF, Mensuration. 2) Basic Reasoning (32 Marks) Analogies, Relationship concepts, Figure odd one out, Direct Sense, Figure Series completion, Venn Diagram, Number series, Coding/Decoding. 3) Basic English (32 Marks) Articles, Synonyms, Antonyms, Preposition, Verbs, Reading comprehension, Determiners, Spellings, Sentences. 4) General Awareness and Science (24 Marks) General current events (National Level), Sports, Indian culture, Indian history, Indian geography, Capital/State, General Science, Health, Hygiene and Sanitation, Geography of Jammu and Kashmir, Culture of Jammu and Kashmir, History of Jammu and Kashmir.
 

ANNEXURE-“B”: Syllabus for Social Forestry Worker Exam


Dear Candidates,

The written test for the position of Social Forestry Worker aims to assess your scientific acumen, analytical skills, numerical ability, and overall awareness across diverse subjects. The examination will be conducted in English and will be set at a 10th standard level, with a total of 120 marks and a duration of 2 hours.

1) Basic Mathematics (32 Marks)
Topics covered: Percentage, Average, Time, Work and Distance, Ratio and Proportion, Problem of Age, Probability, LCM, HCF, Mensuration.

2) Basic Reasoning (32 Marks)
Content includes: Analogies, Relationship concepts, Figure odd one out, Direct Sense, Figure Series completion, Venn Diagram, Number series, Coding/Decoding.

3) Basic English (32 Marks)
Subjects: Articles, Synonyms, Antonyms, Preposition, Verbs, Reading comprehension, Determiners, Spellings, Sentences.

4) General Awareness and Science (24 Marks)
Areas encompassed: General current events (National Level), Sports, Indian culture, Indian history, Indian geography, Capital/State, General Science, Health, Hygiene, and Sanitation, Geography of Jammu and Kashmir, Culture of Jammu and Kashmir, History of Jammu and Kashmir.
